FrontierVille Mission: The Great Tomato Race

Here's another timed mission available in FrontierVille, "The Great Tomato Race" .  The mission must be accepted before March 28.   We have seven days complete this mission.  And take note that this mission will be unlocked to you once you completed the "Same Procedure as Every Year" mission.

Tasks to complete:

Harvest 100 Tomatoes
Harvest 10 Neighbor Tomatoes
Collect 10 Sauce Pans

Tomatoes only take 15 minutes to grow.  Gather Sauce Pans by posting on your wall and ask your friends to send one to you.

CityVille Factories

Back at the beginning of February, we brought you a sneak peek of a "new way to play" in CityVille, concerning the eventual release of Factories in the game. While we didn't know when Factories would officially launch in the game, it turns out that that time is now, as you'll receive a Factory for free the next time you login to the game. Note: You must be at least level 13 to access the Factories feature.

This free factory comes by way of a new quest set called "City of Industry." Again, you will receive your factory for free, but a word of warning - this building is massive, taking up a very large portion of a single expansion in your town. You'll need to spend 10 energy to get the base of the Factory into your town, and afterwards will have to gather a variety of new items to actually make it operational.

Meet us behind the break for more on factories, and the quests that accompany them.
The first quest in the City of Industry line has you simply placing and building your Factory from your inventory. Again, you'll need to whack the frame ten times to build the Factory building, and then you'll need to collect a whopping 50 items with the help of friends - all of which are new to the game.

These 50 items come in five different varieties - 10 each of Hard Hats, Lunch Boxes, Robotic Arms, Safety Goggles, and Work Uniforms. You'll be able to purchase a single item for 2 City Cash, or click on the "Ask Friends" button to send individual gift requests to your CityVille neighbors in the hopes that they'll send you these items.

Once built, you'll unlock the second quest, called "Get Things Rolling." You'll need to supply a business with Premium Goods (created in the Factory), and then collect Premium Goods from your Factory. Premium Goods themselves are, of course, created in the factory, and once you complete its construction, you'll see that your Goods bar will change from one single bar to two - one representing the normal Goods, the other representing Premium Goods.

When you click on your factory, you'll be able to schedule jobs just as you schedule shipments down at the dock, by choosing from a series of templates. Different jobs cost different amounts of coins, and take longer to complete, but produce more Goods in the process.

Each job has a minimum amount of Premium Goods that can be produced, however, you can increase this number greatly by hiring workers for a shift in your Factory. You can only hire each friend once per day, by clicking on the "Hire Friends" button and then inviting your friends to come help you. In the case of the "Chill Charles" job, for instance (pictured), you can invite six friends to help you, each of which adds 25 Premium Goods to the production total. If you choose not to invite friends, you'll still produce the guaranteed minimum of 25 Premium Goods. Goods will luckily never spoil, no matter how long it takes you to come back to collect them.

When you have both kinds of Goods in your possession, and you stock Businesses, your Premium Goods will automatically be used first, resulting in a higher payout for that Business the next time you collect from it. After that, regular Goods will be used as normal. Don't worry about wasting these Premium Goods either, as you'll only use regular Goods when supplying franchises and sending trains - those two features remain unchanged.

As of this writing, there is no way to expand the amount of Premium Goods you can store, and if you delete your Factory from your town, it will pop back into your inventory. However, replacing the Factory in your town will result in your having to build it all over again, so only store this building if absolutely necessary.

This is a pretty hefty new feature in the game, and we wouldn't be surprised if Zynga had to tweak things along the way, but for now, make sure to head into your town soon to start taking advantage of your new money-making potential.

The Separation of Church And Zynga: Wedding Chapels Stripped From CityVille

Zynga made a small but fascinating change to its young-yet-ubiquitous game CityVille over the weekend. Players could previously buy “Wedding Chapels,” which looked like small country churches but without a cross or other religious symbols, to add to their city. But the virtual item has been removed and replaced with the more secular and nondescript “Wedding Hall.” With two gold ring things that somehow makes me think only of McDonalds.
Err, ok.
I asked Zynga if this was in response to complaints, or otherwise why they did this. No comment from them so far. They could, of course, simply add other icons for other religions, and let people choose.
But perhaps even that would be too insensitive. Players who had previously purchased the Wedding Chapel still have it, but it’s also been renamed to “Wedding Hall.” Presumably friends visiting the city might get offended.
I also asked Zynga if they plan to remove farm and pet animals from their various games to please P.E.T.A, or offer non-genetically modified and pesticide-free crops for Organic-loving FarmVille players. Again, no word back from them.
I don’t know why this bothers me so much, since I’m not very religious myself. But it just seems so artificially politically correct. The company has come a long way since the rough and tumble Scamville days, it seems.

Disney Acquires Social Network For Kids Togetherville

Disney has just acquired Togetherville, a social network for kids 10 years of age or younger, we’ve confirmed with the company. Terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed at the moment.
Togetherville, which exited beta last year, mimics the experience of adult social networking sites, i.e. Facebook but in an age-appropriate and parent-monitored environment. Togetherville promises a safer, more secure environment, where parents can moderate who their children are connecting with. Parents approve each of their child’s friends, and can also connect with other parents using Facebook’s social graph.
Parents can easily interact with their kids in Togetherville, while kids have their very own social community and login to engage with friends, play games, watch videos, and create art. Children create “neighborhoods” from Facebook friends, and can connect through School Communities, which allows parents and kids connect with school friends without requiring the parents to be connected via Facebook.
We were tipped off on the acquisition by a reader. The site’s terms of service, it states: “Welcome to the Internet sites of the Walt Disney Internet Group (“WDIG”). “WDIG Sites” include Disney.com, ABCNEWS.com, ABC.com, ESPN.com, DisneyShopping.com, Go.com, Movies.com, FamilyFun.com, and other Internet sites on which these terms of use are posted.” Another clue is CEO and founder Mandeep Dhillon’s LinkedIn profile, which now states he is “Vice President, Togetherville at The Walt Disney Company.”
Disney’s past acquisitions include Playdom, Tapulous, and Marvel.

Facebook Writes Its Privacy Policy in a Language Humans Can Read

Facebook rolled out a new way for users to read and understand its privacy policy. Although none of the terms of the privacy policy have changed, the new site and policy outlines has been rewritten, reformatted and reorganized in a way that makes it easy for non-lawyers to understand.
This trial format comes a day after Facebook responded to an inquiry from the the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. In its response, Facebook said that it agreed with the FTC’s finding “that any privacy framework must be implemented in a way that both honors consumers’ expectations in the contexts in which they use online services and promotes the innovation that has fueled the growth of the Internet of the past two decades.”

Facebook explained the rationale behind the new human-friendly draft of its privacy on the Site Governance page, stating it had settled upon a few basic principles when trying to figure out what users want from a privacy policy.

These principles are:
  1. First, it should be easy to understand, even when the concept is complicated or is of no use to anyone.
  2. Second, it should be visual and interactive, because that’s the way people use the web today.
  3. Third, it should focus on the questions Facebook users are most likely to ask, because that makes it relevant.
Looking at the draft policy and at Facebook’s official privacy policy, we know which one we prefer.

It’s really amazing what kind of difference larger fonts and well organized information can have on the readability of a document.

Make no mistake: Even in this early draft, the Facebook’s privacy policy is still a dense document. That said, information is much more understandable and the navigational aspects are a huge improvement.

Frankly, our hats are off to Facebook for putting this type of document together. We wish other companies (read: Google) would be so willing to better present this type of information.

Mafia Wars: Crisis in Cuba

Cuba in crisis

In six days, Cuba will be overrun!

A shadowy organization called the Neo-Imperium is secretly working to destabilize the current world order and control all criminal activities throughout the planet. The Neo-Imperium are attempting to overthrow the government and install a puppet leader to establish one of the biggest drug trafficking centers in the world. This is a warning to all Mafia crime bosses that Cuba is no longer safe.

It’s time to head to Cuba and complete a series of missions to combat this new organization before time runs out and all players will be locked out from Cuba. You have until March 2 to complete these missions and do all other activities in Cuba.  Job mastery in Cuba will be 5X and a new loot item will drop from jobs and fights in this unstable country. There are also new loot items and a 10% cash bonus for Mafia players who complete all the tasks in the allotted time.

You’ll need a lot of Politico Corruptos from your Bribery Ring property in Cuba to finish your “Crisis in Cuba” mission. If you’re running low on corrupt politicians, don’t worry. You’ll be able to send Politico Corruptos to your Mafia and request them from your friends through the Gift Page. The “Crisis in Cuba” Mission is available to users level 18 and above.

Yahoo Informs MyBlogLog Users of Shutdown

Users of MyBlogLog, a start-up that Yahoo acquired in 2007 for about $10 million, received an e-mail early today announcing the service's demise.
The announcement is not exactly a surprise. MyBlogLog was one of the Yahoo services listed on a leaked presentation screenshot from December as a property that would likely be sold or shut down as the troubled Yahoo cuts costs.

Ahead of its time in a sense, MyBlogLog built widgets that site owners could install to show which MyBlogLog members read their blogs--the same philosophy that now powers, for example, widgets displaying Facebook members who have "liked" a site. The original leaker of the screenshot was Eric Marcoullier, the founder of MyBlogLog, who no longer works at Yahoo.

The service will be formally discontinued on May 24, and people who have paid for a "premium" subscription to MyBlogLog past that date will receive refunds.

Other Yahoo products that face potential shutdown or sale include Yahoo Buzz, a one-time competitor to Digg, and Delicious, a bookmarking site that still has some very loyal users. Other products, like Fire Eagle and Upcoming.org, were marked for mergers or consolidation; so far, few of the expected shutdowns and mergers have actually happened.

I actually received the email regarding this.  Check out below:

Cafe World Catering Order: Red Carpet Refreshment

You'll need to cook three dishes:

 - Sushi Spread (a 20 hour dish) 125 times
 - Creme Fraiche Caviar (a 30 minute dish) 60 times
 - Tony's Classic Pizza (a five-hour dish) 30 times

You'll have to collect these three items:

 - 10 Champagne Glasses
 - 5 Hor D'oeuvre Plates
 - 5 Napkin Holders

CityVille Quest: Suitable for Edgar

You'll only be able to complete this quest after completing the "Edgar & Ruth Dine" quest, so make sure to take a look at our complete guide to finishing that quest if you need help. You'll need to be level 13 to access both of these quests in your game (they simply won't appear for you until that time). To complete this quest for Edgar, you'll need to ask your friends to send you 6 Coupons, by clicking on the "Ask your Friends" button and then posting a general news item on your feed asking for help.

The other two tasks in this quest involve new items that have recently been added to the game. The first is the Department Store, which is the prize for completing the Edgar & Ruth Dine quest. You'll still need to purchase this building from the store for 8,000 coins, but you won't be able to add one to your town until you unlock it at the end of said quest. Once you build the Department Store, you'll need to collect profits from it three times. It takes 135 Goods to stock the Department Store. The final task has you simply purchasing one new decoration from the store - a Parking Lot, that costs just 10 coins.

For completing this second of the new retail quests, you'll unlock the TV Terrace home, a building that costs 10,500 coins to build from the store, and will add 190 citizens to your town's population. It's a quick-earning building, offering you 11 coins every five minutes, which makes it great for those quests that ask you to collect from Residential buildings numerous times to move on.

We'll be sure to let you know if more retail quests are added in the future, so keep checking back.

CityVille Quest: Edgar & Ruth Dine

To go along with the release of the new Tofu Burger and City Supermarket businesses in CityVille, Zynga has released a new quest called "Edgar & Ruth Dine." You might remember Ruth for her love of pigeons and purple bandana, and she's back again to ask you for some help (you must be at least level 13 to receive this quest). This quest has three steps to complete, which will cost you a bit of money, time, energy, and even require some help from friends.

You'll need to build both a City Supermarket in your town, and a Tofu Burger Joint as two of the tasks, with the Tofu Burger tasks specifically being to collect from the business five times. As we told you before, the Tofu Burger must be stocked with 125 Goods, and costs 5,000 coins to build from the store. Meanwhile, the City Supermarket costs 5,750 coins, and requires 130 Goods to stock.

Both of these buildings will take a few energy each to build, along with some of your own money (of course), but if you'd rather save your coins, you can also take advantage of other users who happen to have the Tofu Burger restaurant or City Supermarket as franchises. If they place these buildings into you town on Building Lots, you could collect from the Tofu Burger join as same as you could one that you personally built, and your friend will get something out of in the process - it's like taking care of two things at once!

As for the final task, you'll need to ask friends for 7 Bird Seed, which makes sense, as Ruth wants her pigeons to have a lovely dinner as well, just as she and Edgar are going to. You'll be able to gather Bird Seed by posting a general news item to your wall, asking your friends to send you a single packet of seed. Luckily, from our experience, this mission doesn't seem to be bugged as many other are, as you'll actually receive all of the Bird Seed you're sent, rather than it floating off into the dark recesses of the internet, never to be seen or heard from again.

The reward for this mission is definitely worth the work of completing these three tasks, as you'll unlock the CityVille Department Store, which you can already see as "locked" under the Businesses section of the store. There, you'll see a preview of this tall building, which will require you to spend 8,000 coins to build. From there, it taked 135 Goods to stock, and you'll receive 588 coins in earnings each time those Goods are spent.

Get 10 Dinner Bibs

FarmVille Leprechaun's Cottage

For some time now, we've been bringing you FarmVille sneak peeks of the new St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun's Cottage / treehouse that was then just an unreleased set of images. Via tonight's FarmVille update, however, the Leprechaun's Cottage became a reality as the building is now available to build on your farm!

As we expected, this building will function in a manner comparable to that of the Haunted House or the Cupid's Castle, from the Halloween and Valentine's Day events, respectively. That is, the Cottage will start at one size, and can then be upgraded three more times, each time causing the Cottage to become larger and more elaborate, changing from a simple cottage sitting on the ground to one perched high in a tree, surrounded mostly by the treetop. The larger your Leprechaun Cottage, the more Gold you'll be able to collect from the building each day, with that Gold presumably being used in a Pot of Gold that has yet to be released. As such, a completed Leprechaun Cottage won't give off Gold just yet, but that doesn't mean you can't have a head start in building the Cottage to completion! The first stage of construction on the Leprechaun's Cottage will require just four each of Bricks, Nails, and Wooden Boards. You'll start with one ingredient for free, so you should be able to blow through this stage fairly quickly. As you move to the next stage, you'll need 16 of each item.

The final stage of the Leprechaun Cottage requires more parts still, at 30 of each of these items. As you add building materials to your Cottage, you'll be able to share free Bricks, Nails, and Wooden Boards at various stages - either when completing the collection of a particular ingredient in full, or when reaching the halfway point of an expansion, and so on.

As for collecting the building materials themselves, remember that you have quite a few ways to go about that. You can either click on the "Ask for More" button associated with any ingredient to send out individual gift requests to your friends, asking them to send you the parts you need, or you can simply purchase them outright for 1 Farm Cash each. You can also open Special Delivery Boxes to receive the ingredients you need for free, or you can initiate the sending of these items from the free gifts page, in the hopes that your friend(s) reciprocate. Finally, always remember that your friends will likely be posting tons of these ingredients for free on their wall as they build their own Cottages, so you should feel free to take advantage of that generosity.

It should be noted that if you don't like the massive size of the Leprechaun Cottage, or simply want to store it until the Pot of Gold has been released (thus giving the building an actual purpose), Zynga has built the ability to store the item in already, so you won't have to wait to do so (unlike with such buildings in the past).

All told, building the Leprechaun Cottage should at least give you something to work on for a little while, while waiting for the rest of the St. Patrick's Day theme to hit FarmVille in full. Or, it should least give you a way to clear out your excess of Special Delivery boxes, if you've been hanging onto them for such a purpose.

Earn 2 Free FarmVille Farm Cash in Diet Coke Promotion

FarmVille Diet Coke
Zynga has released yet another sponsored link to FarmVille, and this time it's with everyone's favorite artificially sweetened, zero-calorie soda, Diet Coke. Just click on the link below your FarmVille game screen and a pop-up will appear. Don't worry, this is a good pop-up--it has Farm Cash inside, not malware like those dastardly scammers. You will be greeted by a screen that reads, "Stay extraordinary with Diet Coke and the Heart Truth."

From there, start the mini game. There are 12 cans of Diet Coke before you, and three have flags behind them. However you only have six chances to donate $.50 to benefit health heart programs and score that two Farm Cash. (You know, I can't help but doubt Diet Coke is better for your heart than any other soda.) Fortunately the flags don't move from their positions after each attempt, so it's only a matter of time before you get it right.

You'll then be given the option to share your victory and visit the Diet Coke website. By now, you'll see in the upper right corner of the screen that you've earned the Farm Cash. Give it about 30 minutes before refreshing the game and you should be 2 Farm Cash richer. Doesn't donating by mistake feel great?

Nintendo 3DS To Launch with 18 Games

If you're planning to pick up a Nintendo 3DS when it goes on sale March 27, you'll have a solid 18 games to choose from for your starter collection -- but they're going to cost a bit more than regular DS titles.

Nintendo has unveiled its launch day line-up for the handheld gaming system as well as a $40 price tag for games -- $5 more than titles for the existing DS platform.

The 3DS won't launch with the support of a heavyweight Nintendo icon like Mario or Zelda, but external publishing partners will pick up the day-one slack with some very familiar names, including Super Street Fighter, The Sims, Star Wars, Rayman, and Madden. The system will also come with built-in titles Face Raiders, AR Games and a Mii Maker application.

Nintendo itself will contribute nintendogs + cats, a sequel to its popular pet simulator, along with submarine simulator Steel Diver and Pilotwings Resort. The company seems to be saving its big guns for a little later in the year when there are more 3DS systems in people's hands and the holidays are drawing near. Before the year is out, the company says it plans to release The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising and a new installment in the Mario Kart series.

Nintendo plans to expand the total number of games available for the 3DS from 18 to more than 30 by mid-June. To drive demand for the system, the company is planning an extensive promotional campaign, with over 5,000 units in stores and people demonstrating mobile units on the streets of major cities.

The $5 premium for titles wasn't unexpected, but could still make things challenging for the company. While Nintendo has pretty much owned the handheld gaming space for generations, it faces dramatically increased competition from Apple these days, as players have flocked to the iOS devices, where game prices almost never top $10.
Granted, no iPhone offers glasses-free stereoscopic 3D, but analysts question if that effect will, in the long run, be worth an extra $30-$35 to players for games like Madden and LEGO Star Wars.
To help you assemble your shopping list, here are the titles that will be available at launch (plus the two built-in games):

Pilotwings Resort (Nintendo)
Steel Diver (Nintendo)
nintendogs + cats (Nintendo)
Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (Capcom)
The Sims 3 (EA)
Madden NFL Football (EA)
Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D (Konami)
LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (LucasArts)
Ridge Racer 3D (Namco Bandai)
Super Monkey Ball 3D (Sega)
Bust-a-Move Universe (Square-Enix)
Samurai Warriors: Chronicles (Tecmo Koei America)
Asphalt 3D (Ubisoft)
Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D (Ubisoft)
Rayman 3D (Ubisoft)
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars (Ubisoft)

Make Money Online with Smowtion - Yet Another Adsense Alternative

If you want to earn money online through your blogs and are looking for a better Adsense alternative, then you might want to try SMOWTION.   This is simply one of the great high-earner network I have tried. They provide several types of ad form such as the ad banner that we usually use on Adsense and the pop-under ads.

If you are planning to sign-up for an account, click on the banner on this article and  you automatically qualified to have an 80% revenue share from Smowtion.
Basically, the ads from Smowtion is 100% compatible with your other existing ads from Adsense or other text link ads.
Here are some tips that you might want to consider to make a smooth experience with SMOWTION.
  1. Use IFRAME version on banner ads instead of the JAVASCRIPT version. IFRAME version makes no issue with the loading of the site and doesn’t slow down the rendition of your content.
  2. Use pop-under ads. It got higher earning opportunity and not annoying compared to pop-ups. Pop-under just pops behind your page which will be seen by users after they close your page so there’s no annoying experience for them but higher earning for you.

CityVille Goal: Rusty Lost at Sea Quests

A new five part mission series is now available to many users in CityVille, that sees the brave sea Captain Rusty being lost out on the big blue ocean - oh no! You'll need to pass two requirements in order to unlock these "Rusty Lost at Sea" quests, with one being to simply be level 25 or above. You'll also need to have completed the Piers quest, having a completely built Dock on your land with which you can send ships and receive cargo in return.

All set? Good! The first mission in this quest line sees you gathering supplies for what might be a long journey to find Rusty.

Harvest 20 Corn
Harvest 30 Carrots
Harvest 15 Friends' Crops

This one might take you some time, depending on how much of your land you have devoted to farming. No matter how much land you have, the time it takes to grow these crops is the same, with Corn taking one full day to harvest, and Carrots taking eight hours. Hopefully, if you have enough active neighbors, you'll be able to simply visit three friends, harvesting five crops at each, and quickly finish this last step.

As for the next four quests, little is known about the exact details officially (growing that many crops simply takes a long time!), but CityVille Chat does have the expected tasks for the next four goals. Keep in mind, these are subject to change at any time.

Get 10 Friends to join your Search Party (presumably through individual requests or a wall post)
Ask friends for 5 Life Vests
Have 1 Oyster from the Surf & Turf Collection
Unload 5 San Francisco Supplies
Unload 1 Rome Relic
Send Buses to 30 Neighbors' Businesses
Have 1 Pancake from the Comfort Food Collection
Have 1 EZ Chair from the Peaceful Living Collection
Build 1 Ranch House

While these quest requirements are still a bit up in the air, the reward definitely isn't, as you'll unlock a new option at your dock in the form of Caribbean Cargo. Caribbean Cargo takes 101 coins to purchase, and takes 1.6 days to complete. You'll receive 146 goods once your ship(s) return from their journey.
