Step by Step Guide: Italian Castle

1. Once you have reached level 30 you will see the following quest icon and receive the quest to build your Italian Castle.
   
   
   
   
   
   
2. Clicking on the "Place" button will allow you to place then start building your Italian Castle (it will take 8 clicks to build it). Note, if you ever delete it from your city you will be able to find it again in your inventory and it will have to be rebuilt.
   
   
3. Clicking on your unfinished Italian Castle will bring up the list of staff you will need to finish it. You can get these by sending requests to your friends or by purchasing them with City Cash.

Zynga Calls Out Bingo as It Gets More Serious About Casino Games

Zynga is getting close to launching Bingo, its second casino game on Facebook, which could serve as a precursor to the company’s more official online gambling business.
Last week, Zynga confirmed to All Things D that it was actively investigating online gambling opportunities and is in talks with several partners.

The San Francisco social games company said Bingo is launching today in closed beta, and in the coming weeks will be available to everyone on Facebook. The game will become part of a larger franchise called Zynga Casino, which was announced in October.

Zynga’s version of the game is similar to the classic version found in bingo halls, where players watch for numbers as they pop up and mark them off on their scorecard. The first player to spell out B-I-N-G-O wins. In Zynga’s version of the game, players can compete against friends.
But for now, the closest the game gets to gambling is the casino theme.

 

Zynga dominates Facebook’s game chart today, but if it is able to get its toe in the door to online gambling — just as the laws change in the U.S. — it could be a big opportunity.

The casino genre has also been quietly racking up big numbers on Facebook for areas such as slots, card games and roulette. In particular, Zynga has been phenomenally successful with poker. Five years ago, it launched Texas HoldEm Poker, which continues to attract close to seven million users a day and is one of the company’s top three revenue-generating titles.

Zynga is not the only one investigating how to enter online gambling, potentially leveraging the popularity of social networks.

Video poker giant International Game Technology recently purchased Seattle-based Double Down Interactive for 500 million; Double Down develops games, including blackjack, slots, video poker and roulette. Caesars Entertainment also entered the space when it purchased Playtika, an Israeli game company known for its Facebook title, Slotomania.

Zynga’s Bingo game is not dissimilar to versions already on Facebook, such as BitRhymes’ Bingo Bash and Buffalo Studios’ Bingo Blitz.

Tweets Can Now Be Blocked

Twitter said Thursday that it now has the ability to block tweets from appearing in a specific country if legally required to do so.

"As we continue to grow internationally, we will enter countries that have different ideas about the contours of freedom of expression," Twitter said in a blog post.

"Some differ so much from our ideas that we will not be able to exist there," the San Francisco-based company said.

"Others are similar but, for historical or cultural reasons, restrict certain types of content, such as France or Germany, which ban pro-Nazi content," Twitter said.

Twitter said that previously, if it was required to remove messages, it could only remove them globally.

"Starting today, we give ourselves the ability to reactively withhold content from users in a specific country -- while keeping it available in the rest of the world," Twitter said.

"We haven't yet used this ability, but if and when we are required to withhold a tweet in a specific country, we will attempt to let the user know, and we will clearly mark when the content has been withheld," it said.

Twitter said it would post details of any incidents involving the removal of content to ChillingEffects.org, a public database of takedown requests.

"One of our core values as a company is to defend and respect each user’s voice," Twitter said. "We try to keep content up wherever and whenever we can, and we will be transparent with users when we can't."

China, notably, blocks Twitter, a situation which Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey described recently as "unfortunate and disappointing."

Pioneer Trail Wants You To Name This Item!

The Pioneer Trail team is asking for a favor.  There's a buildable coming up in the game which will allow you to spawn debris on collection--the higher you've constructed the buildable, the more types of debris you get from it. It was initially and informally called "Debris Spawner" but they want a better name. Can you come up with a few good names?

So contribute your own suggestions for what we can name this. You can offer up as many names (within reason) as you want, or you can support someone else's name if you like it enough. We're not going to guarantee that we'll use any of the entries, so if y'all can't come up with a good name you're going to be stuck with "Debris Spawner" for all eternity.  Click here to contribute.

FarmVille Cupid’s Garden

Cupid’s Garden is here on FarmVille! Fill your Garden with Cupid Bows, Love Arrows and Pairs of Wings, then redeem them for special rewards that you can share with your friends!

Note: If you are unable to locate the Cupid’s Garden, check for it in your Gift Box or purchase it in the “Buildings” section of the Market for 1 coin.

Placing Cupid’s Garden:

A Green illumination around Cupid’s Garden will glow over open placement areas on your farm.

Note: You can have 1 Cupid’s Garden on each Farm (Home, English Countryside, Lighthouse Cove, and Winter Wonderland).

Cupid’s Garden has six building stages. As you complete each of these stages, your Garden will continue to grow more visually impressive. To complete stages, simply collect Tokens of Affection. The Meter on the left of the Garden’s Menu will increase to reflect the number of Tokens you have collected.

There are three types of Tokens: Love Arrows, Cupid Bows, and Pairs of Wings. All of these Tokens can be received as free gifts from your Neighbors or purchased for Farm Cash.

Note: Any of the three Tokens listed above will count towards the completion of your Garden.

In addition to this, you can redeem the Tokens of Affection you receive for various rewards. There are six rewards in total. Each type of Token (Arrows, bows, wings) can be redeemed for two of these Rewards.

Note: You can also purchase the individual Rewards for the price listed in the Garden’s Menu.

Completing Cupid’s Garden:

The table below details the Token requirements for Cupid’s Garden.

All Materials from Friends will be delivered to your Gift Box. Find them there and press the ‘Use All’ button to add them to your Garden.

Each time you complete one of the building stages, you will receive a popup. Accepting will allow you to share free Romantic Carriage materials with your friends.

Note: Click on your Friends’ feed posts to get additional Tokens of Affection.

What's New in Pioneer Trail

Howdy Everyone!

The Pioneer Trail team has been pretty busy these last few weeks planning out the next big travel destination while delivering you some tasty features that you've been waiting for, like the Emporium and Frontier Favors. We've also been adjusting some other recent features based on your feedback regarding availability and difficulty (like lots of stuff involving Holiday Hollow), so as always we're listening to your feedback and reacting accordingly.

Some of you were disappointed in what the Emporium stored and what you could do with it. Just to be clear, the Emporium is just the first of a series of buildings where you can store other buildings. In the very near future we'll have other buildings where you can group together similarly-themed buildings, so don't worry if your favorite (or, in some cases, least favorite) building can't be stored just yet--it may be store-able soonish.

One thing that might have confused some of you in the last few months is the fact that we have a bunch of different Facebook outlets that you can Like and get news and the like. It was getting to be a bit too much, so basically we've combined everything into one fan page (http://www.facebook.com/pioneertrail). All of the useful notices and links will be there, and we'll be adding even more functionality soon. Plus you won't get inundated with a lot of news posts if you were a fan of all 3 pages in the past (and if you Liked one of them, you won't need to do anything--it's already done).

Today hopefully you will see the release of Hank & Fanny's Anniversary Extravaganza. Hank wants to have a great anniversary dinner but is kind of in over his head...

The quests that you'll need to get the Monumental Homestead Expansion (for those of you that didn't buy it outright previously) will be coming in the next few weeks, along with a railroad on the side of the homestead (on the left-hand side actually). What do you need a railroad for, you ask? Well... stay tuned Plus, Valentine's Day is coming up. Are you ready??

Speaking of upcoming features, we're looking for a cool, unique name for the upcoming "Debris Spawner". It's a buildable item that... spawns debris. Yes it's that complex. But we don't like the name. Can you come up with a better one? Visit this thread and let's see what you got!

Pioneer Trail Frontier Favors Mission

Zynga has introduced a new function to Pioneer Trail game- the Dynamic Quest System (DQS)! By now, you've become familiar with some of the faces on your homestead. Now, these characters are reaching out to you. They will present favors for you to help them with daily. What makes this so unique is not everyone will have the same favors as others. They will vary from person to person. Help out your fellow NPCs and be rewarded!

• Must be level 12+
• You can have only 1 favor mission active per day
• Each mission is timed to expire after 2 weeks
• You can dismiss/abandon a favor if you don’t want to complete it BUT you won’t get it again. You will see an exclamation point on top of another NPC in-game to get more favors.
• You can dismiss 1 favor for free per day. Otherwise, it will cost 1 HS to dismiss a 2nd favor in 24 hours.
• Everyone will receive the main mission (Big Favors.) Afterwards, all the favor missions will be random so not everyone will have the same mission requirements. There are over 120,000 mission variations!
• You will not see the favor missions in your mission manager. You will see them on the bulletin board or from the NPC that is showing a question mark.

To begin, click on "Accept":

Once you’re done with a favor you will see an exclamation mark on top of his head. They will give you another mission (just remember you can only do one favor at a time):

Collect 12 Teamwork
Reward: 900XP, 900 Coins, 1 Fishin' Hole

You can then repeat this daily with whomever needs a favor from you. If you choose to abandom a favor mission after starting it, click "Abandon." As stated above, you get one free abandon daily. If you choose to abandon a 2nd mission in a 24 hour period, you will get the following popup:
