City of Wonder is a simulation game created by Playdom and played on Facebook. The game lets you create prosperous civilizations which will let you progress through the ages while researching various technologies.
Basic Game Elements
When you start City of Wonder you will be given 40,000 Silver Coins and 12 Gold Bars. As you progress thtough the game you will earn this currencies by doing activities and by leveling up. The silver coins is the basic currency of the game and lets you buy regular items that you need and the gold bars allow you to purchase premium items that will help you to advance in the game faster by completing longer tasks immediately.
Once started you will be introduced to the cultural advisor in the game. He gives you objectives that serve as a tutorial to the game and as you advance further the objectives are there to allow you to earn more money and XP.
Adding buildings to your city requires you to add roads. Every time you add a different building you will soon notice different people and vehicles driving on the roads.
As in any other games, you will be encouraged to invite neighbors. You will need neighbors to build embassies on your land that increases population and happiness in your city as well as increase in allies.
Improving your civilization includes building various houses which move in population, adding various gardens to grow food to sell, and research different types of materials which can be mined, and traded with neighbors. You can consult the Cultural advisers to discover new technologies to increase population, knowledge and happiness.
You can do various things with your Civilization such as attack enemies or trade with Allies during Expeditions, Complete Collections, Build elaborate Gardens, and build "Marvels" such as Stonehenge, The Great Pyramids, and Trojan horses for your City.
A strong military defense is important as others will attack you in expeditions. Do some research so you can access materials needed to build weapons.
Guide in Building and Placing Items in your Civilization
Each building you place in your civilization lets you earn money and XP over a specific amount of time. You can decrease this amount of time by using Gold bars which you can purchase or earn when you level up in the game.
To Build an item click on the "Building" button and another menu will open up showing you different types of houses. The cost is along the bottom. Note each house's cost is listed in edition to type. Each building will earn you a certain number of XP and money after the time has passed.
Each residence will earn population for you every defined minute. Roll over your mouse to find out before purchasing. "24 population every 25 minutes" mean you will earn 24 population ever 24 minutes but be sure to come back in the game to click on the house to collect it.
You can collect more bonuses if you visit the game more often. This lets you collect from your buildings and the higher chance to earn random free bonuses such as coins, XP, or a legend.
Legends are upgrades that give you huge benefits in the game. You can purchase some using the gold bars and can also be gifted to you by neighbors.
What are Neighbors/Embassies For?
Neighbors are essentials for your Civilization. More neighbors lets you level up quickly and earn funds.
Free gifts can be sent once every 24 hours.
As soon as you have new neighor you will find their Embassy in your gift area. You can place their embassy on your land by clicking on it in the menu area then clicking on the area in your land you wish to place it. When a neighbor visits you they will be able to click on their embassy to earn 100 Silver Coins once every 18 hours. In return you will gain 50 happiness points added to your City.
The more neighbor embassies you have on your land the more visits you will expect, therefore the happier your inhabitants will be and the faster you will level up and earn money.
Doing the Research
Completing research unlock items that your City can build, sell and trade with neighboring cities.
Click on the research button and purchase the area you wish to research. Your choices affect the types of items you can build so make sure to choose an advisor and listen to what they tell you.
Once you have completed the research you will earn a coin and XP bonus as well as unlock items to trade and sell.
Research can be things such as Mysticism, religion, Writing, and Pottery. Each topic takes a certain amount of time. If you wish to instantly finish you can use gold bars to do so.
As much as possible always keep research going at all times as sometimes you cannot level up until certain items are completed.
Go on Expeditions
In City of Wonders, you can leave your Civilization and explore several others. You have the option to attack, trade goods, or exchange cultural knowledge with neighboring Civilizations.
You will win an attack if you are more equipped with weapons and militia and a higher level of research. Having a higher population does not mean you will definitely win but it does help, so grow your population as much as possible. The more you build up your trading, militia, and cultural knowledge the more likely you will be able to win.
You are allowed a maximum of 10 expeditions at a time. Once you are in the expedition screen you can view at the bottom of the page how many expeditions you are currently participated in.
You will see a map with names of your neighbors and some others. Roll over the mouse and you can see their statistics as to how many wins and losses they have had. You will then decide if you want to attack that player, skip them, trade with them, or exchange cultural knowledge with them.
Expeditions are a fast way of earning XP and extra income as well as increase your population and cultural knowledge.
See you on your expeditions!

It is all-time best game in facebook. I love this game. Outstanding work by Playdom
they seem to make poor use of screen space
It’s a great game, but I would like you to improve the ‘Attacks’.
If you attack someone it doesn’t do any damage, it just puts their barracks on fire.
